Background: JV-P12 was an HVAC droid working for the Pyke Union in the Kessel Mines. In 10 BBY, it was present when a group of smugglers led by Han Solo infiltrated the scene to steal a shipment of raw coaxium and their co-pilot L3-37 rid the robots of their safety pad. Thus liberated, JV-P12 participated in the revolt of slaves and droids in order to take possession of the mines.
